  Bakary Sonko, Ph.D. (Gambia):  President
He is an assistant professor, in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (UCHSC), Denver , USA .  He has degrees in Chemistry (B.Sc.) (1982), University of Tripoli , Libya ; Biochemistry (M.Sc.) (1984), Chelsea College , University of London , UK ; Physiology (Nutrition) (Ph.D.) (1991), University of Cambridge , UK .  He worked for the Ministry of Agriculture in The Gambia (1982 – 1984) and lectured at Gambia College (1985 – 1987).  He was a Research Scientist at the British Medical Research Council’s field station in Keneba, The Gambia (1991 – 1995).  He currently conducts obesity research in humans at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver , USA . Bakary is married and has four children.                      
                  

  Jean-Pierre Yoboue  (Ivory Coast):  Treasurer
    Jean-Pierre Yoboue was born in the Ivory Coast (West Africa). He graduated with a Master of Science in Economics in 1990 at the National University of Ivory Coast.  He then moved to the U.S. in 1992 and graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences in Accounting at the Metropolitan State College of Denver in December of 2000.  He has recently completed an MBA program (Emphasis: Finance/Accounting) at Regis University. 
     Jean-Pierre Yoboue is married with two children and lives in Denver, where he works for an Insurance Brokerage firm called MARSH, Inc. as a staff accountant since 1999.
     Jean-Pierre is one of the founding fathers of the Association des Ivoiriens du Colorado (AIC), a non-profit organization with purpose to bring all Ivorians living in Colorado together.

  Alioune Sogue (Mauritania):  Projects Coordinator
Alioune Sogue was born in Mauritania, West Africa, now lives in Aurora, Colorado with his wife and three children.  He did his undergraduate and graduate studies in Chemical Engineering/Petroleum Refining in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe, from 1978-1982 and his specialization in Reforming Catalytic in the French Institute of Petroleum/Ecole Nationale Superieure de Petrole & Moteurs (ENSPM) in 1984.  He got a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in petroleum Refining from Burgas, Bulgaria, in 1982 and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental Sciences & Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado in 1996. Following his studies in Bulgaria, he worked as Technical manager of the National Oil Refinery of Mauritania from 1982 to 1991.  he migrated in September 1991 to Colorado from Mauritania, where he has been living since.  In 1994, he attended the Colorado School of Mines and graduated in December 1996.  After graduation, he joined the Rocky Mountain Remediation Services, a subsidiary of the Washington Group International/Morrison Knudsen where he worked from 1997 to 2002.  In July 2002, he joined the Department of Environmental Health/City and County of Denver where he has been working since as the Program Manager of Denver Radium Supefund Site and the Underground Storage Tank-Remediation Program.

  Kenday Samuel Kamara (Sierra Leone):  Public Relations Coordinator
Head of a development organization in Sierra Leone called the Center for Alternative Development Strategies (CADS) Sierra Leone from 1993 to 1998.  Pioneer of the Communal Farming System (CFS) approach to agricultural sector development in Sierra Leone, a project of CADS Sierra Leone.  Participated in development seminars in Freetown, Conakry, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, The Gambia, Koln, Moscow, London, Barcelona, Austria and the United States.  Undergraduate in Political Science and History from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.  Diplomas in Small Business Management and Social Work/Psychology. A Salzburg Fellow.  Currently lives in Colorado.  A business facilitator for Diamonds In The Rough International, Inc., a diamond trading company with headquarters in New York.  Also a graduate scholar in Organizational Management at the University of Phoenix – Colorado Campus, and a Project Management Institute (PMI) member in good standing. Married with children.
